Standing Strong: A Women Only Self Defense Workshop

Standing Strong is a women-only, fundamentals-first path to practical self-defense. You’ll train with proven SBG mechanics and a supportive culture that keeps you coming back—no experience needed.

Women-Only • Ages 16+ • Bend, Oregon • Limited to 24 spots

Pressure-tested, coach-led reps. Consent-forward, beginner-friendly environment. You can opt out of any drill at any time.

The Workshop

When: Saturday, September 27, 8:30–10:30 AM (2 hours)
Where: SBG Bend — 550 NW Franklin Ave, Suite 338, Bend

This 2-hour session is a perfect “try it first” option. You’ll get a coach-guided tour of what we practice in the full 8-week program: mindset & safety, voice & presence, fighting stance and head protection, grip breaks, clinch basics, stand-in-base, and guard safety. Wear comfortable athletic clothing and bring a water bottle—no gi required.

Workshop credit: If you continue into the 8-week course, your workshop fee is automatically applied to your program tuition.

The Full Program

Schedule: 8 weekly lessons, 90 minutes each — every Saturday starting October 4, 8:30–10:00 AM @ SBG Bend

  • Standing structure: base, posture, distance, verbal boundary setting
  • Clinch & takedown defense: wall survival and safe downs
  • Ground survival: frames, guard recovery, technical stand-ups
  • Top control & escapes: mount control, S-mount transitions, core escapes
  • Back takes & finishes: transitions to the back and RNC mechanics with a safety emphasis
  • Headlock counters: standing and on the ground
  • Scenario rounds & skills check: coach-led pressure testing so your improvement is clear

Tuition: $359.99 Early Bird / $389.99 Standard. The 8-Week Program includes the workshop; if you attend the workshop first, your $75 fee is credited toward tuition.
