Homeschool Leadership Academy For Ages 8-12
Strong Bodies. Confident Voices. Young Leaders.
Let's Get Started!
As homeschool parents raising two boys ourselves, we understand firsthand how important community and a sense of belonging can be. Children thrive when they have regular opportunities to learn, grow and build meaningful friendships with other like-minded children. That understanding is at the heart of our Homeschool Leadership Academy. Give your child a structured opportunity to stay active, build friendships and develop valuable life skills during the school day.
The SBG Bend Homeschool Leadership Academy combines age-appropriate Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with physical activity, problem-solving and a dedicated leadership curriculum.
Classes begin September 10, 2026.
Tuesdays and Thursdays
1:30pm–3:00pm
For children ages 8–12
More Than a Homeschool PE Class
Homeschool families often look for meaningful opportunities for physical education, social interaction and personal development.
Our Homeschool Leadership Academy provides all three.
During each 90-minute class, students will learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques, practise with partners, solve problems and take on responsibilities that help the entire group improve.
Children will be challenged at an appropriate level in a positive, supportive environment where every student is encouraged to participate, contribute and grow.
What Does Leadership Mean at SBG Bend?
Leadership is not about being the loudest person in the room or telling other people what to do.
We teach children that leadership means developing:
- Confidence
- Self-control
- Responsibility
- Clear communication
- Initiative
- Integrity
- Good sportsmanship
- The ability to support others
Over time, parents may notice their child becoming more willing to attempt difficult things, listen carefully, solve problems, speak with confidence and take responsibility for their choices.

Confidence That Reaches Beyond the Mat
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gives children a safe and structured way to experience challenges, make decisions and learn from mistakes.
Students do not simply stay active. They learn how to remain calm when something is difficult, communicate with a partner, adapt their approach and keep working towards a solution.
The teaching and coaching elements also give children regular opportunities to speak in front of others. By making public speaking a positive and familiar experience, we help students develop confidence that can benefit them throughout their education and later life.
Experienced, Supportive Coaching
The Homeschool Leadership Academy will be led by Coach JC and Coach Dacia, following the same positive approach used in our Children’s Growing Gorillas Program.
Our coaches understand that every child develops at a different pace. They know how to challenge confident students, support children who may initially feel unsure and create a culture in which everyone is expected to help the group improve.
A Program Designed for Meaningful Progress
Enrollment is offered as a six-month program.
This gives students enough time to build consistency, develop strong habits and make meaningful progress through the Leadership Curriculum.
The complete curriculum offers a full year of continued development for students who wish to progress through every leadership stage.
